Sinemia Will Reward Users Who Invite A Friend To Use Their Theater-Subscription Service

The competition between movie-theater subscription services remains pretty heated, with top companies looking for any incentive to lure new customers -- and then keep them by delivering top-notch experiences and excellent customer service. Sinemia, an alternative to rival services (like, for example, MoviePass), is attempting to remain competitive with a new offer to existing customers. It's a referral bonus program, and the details were just made public, so see what's new.

Dubbed the Refer-A-Friend program, Sinemia's new initiative will give current Sinemia subscribers $10 in Sinemia credit for every new user who comes over from "a competing movie ticket subscription service." In addition, any new users who are referred to the program will ALSO earn $10 in Sinemia credit. This referral program is now available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Turkey and Australia.

Sinemia sees this as a way to lure over users who might have cancelled their subscriptions to an existing service, perhaps out of frustration due to inconsistent technological tools or restrictions being placed on certain titles or showtimes. Sinemia CEO Rifat Oguz, in a press release, explained:

We want to provide an opportunity for our users to share Sinemia with their friends while making it more affordable and convenient than ever for new moviegoers to try Sinemia. With Sinemia, people can see the summer's most anticipated movies as well as independent features at the theater of their choice, for much less than the price of a standard ticket. We have flexible plans crafted for all types of moviegoers and want to make it easy for our customers to enjoy their movie day or night out.

Personally, I have been taking Sinemia out for a test drive, with mixed-to-positive results. Three different times I have tried to use the Sinemia app to purchase tickets to see a film. The first time, the app worked fine (basically, you buy tickets on a site like Atom Tickets or Fandango, and Sinemia gives you a one-time-only credit card to use to pay). But when I showed up at the theater, my tickets weren't there. Huh. Thankfully, I'd chosen my seat on Fandango, and the theater manager let me in -- but who wants to do that every time?

The second time I attempted to use Sinemia, I got pinched in what looked to be a server issue as the company dealt with customers flowing over from a MoviePass exodus. Try as I could to get tickets to a movie, the app and the Website just wouldn't work.

Finally, on my third attempt to use Sinemia, I successfully grabbed tickets to Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman. The app worked. The tickets were waiting on my phone. No fault, no issue.

Conclusion? The movie-heater subscription services are all going through growing pains as they attempt to meet the needs of a growing audience. The programs work -- in theory -- because they are luring more people to the theater. But they need to figure out the minute details of their subscriptions... and incentive programs like Sinemia's new Refer-A-Friend (with available credit to be earned) is another good step forward for an existing service.

Christopher McQuarrie Admits Hes Freaked Out About Directing Two More Mission: Impossible Movies

If theres a word that describes the direction that the Mission: Impossible franchise has taken in its most recent years, its escalation. Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has been working on the franchise since his uncredited work on Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol brought him to the table, with Rogue Nation marking his directing debut in the series. And now, with Mission: Impossible Fallout driving the stakes even higher, and two more films on the franchise slate, McQuarrie is unsurprisingly freaked out about making the next two entries in the series.

With three films under his belt, and the pair known as Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 in his cart for the foreseeable future, Christopher McQuarrie talked about the way he landed himself into this proverbial mess. McQuarries summation of the situation was as follows:

I pitched the idea of making two movies, and now I have to justify why its two movies. Youve got to earn that. Youve got to make something that swallows the last three movies whole. Im freaked out now. Weve talked ourselves into something. Holy shit.

The first nugget to unpack from Christopher McQuarries comments on the next two Mission: Impossible films is the fact that hes planning something so big, it needed two films to tell. Right there, any sane director who isnt named Joe or Anthony Russo would be shaking more than a little bit, as making two back-to-back films as big in scope and budget as Mission: Impossible is a prospect.

Then comes the fact that while Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 are continuing the franchise, judging by Christopher McQuarries comments above, it sounds like these twin amazements are going to bring a new level of story continuity to the franchise. While previous history had the series operating on a "mission of the movie" strategy, the films have slowly been morphing into something akin to James Bond's continuing war with SPECTRE.

It increasingly sounds like these two films, opening just a little over a year apart from each other, are going to operate on the same sort of schedule, and some information already available would support that theory. Previous stories have reported that Mission: Impossible 7 would not only see the confirmed return of Rebecca Fergusons Ilsa Faust, but there was also a potential for the return of Henry Cavills August Walker and Alec Baldwins Alan Hunley, both of whom perished in Mission: Impossible Fallout. Coupled with the seventh film being close in release, and continuity, to Mission: Impossible 8, we can pretty much assume that the story of the IMF versus The Syndicate isnt over just yet.

Still, as McQuarrie told Empire Online, the prospect of making two more Mission: Impossible movies would be intimidating at face value. This story that Christopher McQuarrie has expanded the series lore with has grown more exciting, and more elaborate, with each passing film. If theres anything thats gotten bigger than the story these movies have to tell, its the impressive stunts and action sequences, which see Tom Cruise pushing himself into harder edged practical thrills each time out.

Perhaps the best way to sum up the supposed problem Christopher McQuarrie has with his continuation of the Mission: Impossible series is summed up in a further comment he offered in this same interview:

Heres the problem with going to the moon: how do you fall from the moon?

While we dont know how one is supposed to fall from the moon, we certainly hope Tom Cruise hasnt read that and started drawing plans for a lunar freefall in his head. That particular feat seems too impossible, but what isnt outside of the realm of possibility is the fact that Cruise and McQuarrie can definitely work out something so impressive that the next two Mission: Impossible films will be something to behold. After all, this franchise isnt Mission: Play It Safe, its Mission: Impossible.

Mission: Impossible 7 is slated for release on July 23, 2021, with Mission: Impossible 8 having an August 5, 2022 debut penciled into its schedule. A Superman Movie Villain Is Finally Being Introduced To The Comics

Long before cinematic universes were a thing and even before the superhero movie genre as a whole was popular, the Christopher Reeve-led Superman movies were the most prominent examples of a comic book property being adapted for the big screen. While the first two movies in the series were critical successes, the latter two movies are not looked back on nearly as fondly, particularly Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. However, nearly 30 years after that movie's release, its powerhouse villain, The Nuclear Man, is making his comic book debut this summer, and you can check out the first official illustration of him below.

After nearly two decades at Marvel Comics, writer Brian Michael Bendis hopped over to DC Comics last year, and his first big project has been tackling Superman in both the pages of Action Comics and the Superman series. Nuclear Man will be introduced to the comics in the latter book's second issue, and as this Instagram post revealed, Bendis decided to throw the character in after being challenged by certain people. While Ivan Reis illustrated the Nuclear Man seen above and is currently the main artist on Bendis' Superman book, we have fellow DC Comics artist Nick Derington to thank for triggering this idea due to his earlier sketch of the character. So although Superman IV: The Quest For Peace is considered one of the worst superhero movies of all time, perhaps Bendis will be able to somewhat redeem Nuclear Man on the printed page.

Superman IV: The Quest For Peace saw Lex Luthor, who was absent from Superman III, creating The Nuclear Man by taking a strand of Superman's hair, putting inside a genetic matrix and attaching it to the side of a nuclear missile. When that missile went airborne during a test launched, Superman, insistent on ridding Earth of its nuclear weaponry, intercepted the missile and tossed it into the Sun. That triggered the creation of Nuclear Man, who was physically portrayed by Mark Pillow and voiced by Hackman. Nuclear Man gave Superman a good run for his money, but in the end, he was defeated when the Man of Steel dropped him into the core of a nuclear power plant, turning him into electrical energy. The Quest for Peace was met with poor reviews upon release and only made a little over $36 million worldwide off a $17 million budget, thus killing any plans for Superman V. It would be another 19 years until another theatrical Superman movie was released, and Superman Returns, while set in the same continuity as the Reeve series, opted to ignore the events of Superman III and The Quest for Peace.

The Nuclear Man will appear in Superman #2 this August, which you can pick up digitally or at your local comic book store. There's a lot to digest now that Black Panther has debuted in theaters. Between the film's historic box office performance and its inclusion of one of Marvel's best villains yet in the form of Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger, there's no shortage of great potential for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Having said that, one of the most exciting elements of Black Panther's story comes during the post-credits scene, in which Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) finally wakes up from cryosleep. He's obviously going to play a significant role in Avengers: Infinity War, but the scene also makes us think that he could go on to become the obscure Marvel hero White Wolf at some point as well.

For the sake of context, let's dive into what specifically happens in the Black Panther post-credits scene, and what it could mean. In the short clip, a group of Wakandan children run out of a hut and declare that the "White Wolf" has awakened. From here, Bucky emerges and shares a brief exchange with Shuri (Letitia Wright) to set up their alliance going forward. The conversation between the two main Marvel characters clearly establishes big things for Infinity War, but the fact that the kids refer to Bucky as "White Wolf" seems like a thinly-veiled reference to the Marvel character of the same name.

As Marvel purists will likely be able to tell you, there's actually a character in Black Panther's lore named White Wolf. In the comics, White Wolf is a Caucasian man named Hunter who grew up in Wakanda after his parents were killed in a plane crash. Adopted by King T'Chaka, he eventually goes on to become a master hand-to-hand combatant, as well as a skilled marksman. However, easily his most noteworthy trait is his vibranium suit, which is nearly identical to the outfit worn by T'Challa, except it's white instead of black.

Within the current pantheon of Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes, Bucky definitely stands out as the best option to take on the role of White Wolf. He's a badass soldier with a penchant for martial arts and large firearms, and his tenure as The Winter Soldier means that he has clearly picked up all of the necessary traits that we generally associate with someone like Hunter. Moreover, while Bucky and T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) seem to have mended their relationship after the events of Captain America: Civil War, their initial hatred of one another could easily translate to a loose adaptation of the antagonistic relationship between White Wolf and Black Panther. Bucky wouldn't be a straightforward adaptation of White Wolf, but he meets many of the necessary qualifications to make it possible within the framework established by the MCU.

Moreover, allowing Bucky to take on the mantle of White Wolf would actually clear up some space elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for another passing of the torch. Many fans have wondered which friend of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) would inherit the mantle of Captain America when Rogers inevitably retires from active duty (or dies). If Bucky dons the White Wolf suit, then the stars, stripes, and vibranium shield would be waiting for none other than Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon. Many fans already expect a massive changing of the guard when Phase 3 comes to an end, so bringing White Wolf into the fold could easily allow the folks at Marvel to neatly hand off some of their best mantles while also honoring the other heroes who stick around.

At this point, it's anyone's guess as to whether or not Bucky Barnes will take on the mantle of White Wolf in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. So for now, we will just have to watch what the newly-thawed Winter Soldier does with himself when the Russo Brothers' Avengers: Infinity War premieres in theaters later this year on May 4!
