New Star Wars Comic Reveals Why Darth Vader Built His Castle

During his minutes of screen time in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we learned two things about Darth Vader. One, the cybernetic Sith Lord can slaughter a team of Rebels without breaking a sweat. Two, when he's not carrying out Emperor Palpatine's wishes, he spends time at the menacing castle he built on Mustafar. Now we've learned that the reason Vader's fortress is located on the planet where he lost most of his limbs and was burned beyond recognition was because he was trying to communicate with his late wife, Padme Amidala.

As Star Wars fans know, Padme, former queen of Naboo-turned-senator for her homeworld, died at the end of Revenge of the Sith after giving birth to Luke and Leia. With her dead, there was nothing left for the man once known as Anakin Skywalker to do but to continue serving Palpatine. However, in the latest issue of Marvel's Darth Vader comic book series (via Comic Book Resources), it was revealed that by tapping into the dark side energy within Mustafar's core, Vader believed he could contact Padme's spirit.

When we first saw Darth Vader's castle in Rogue One, it was generally assumed that this was just a home away from home for the villain. A place he can unwind when not Force choking Imperial underlings and leading stormtroopers into battle. Not so. After having been gifted Mustafar by Palpatine, Vader used schematics created by the ancient Sith Lord Momin, who has long been dead, but whose spirit still lingers inside his mask, to design his castle.

Speaking with Darth Vader from beyond the grave, Momin informed him that the castle is shaped like a tuning fork because it is one. Specifically, it's a giant tuning fork designed to read mystical pitches, various frequencies of life and, if done properly, even break through the veil of death. This would allow Vader to reunite with Padme despite her being long dead.

We'll have to wait and see if Darth Vader can successfully communicate with Padme in his castle, but I suspect his efforts will be for naught. Nevertheless, it's understandable that Vader is so desperate to try to pull this off. Charles Soule's Darth Vader comic book series takes place right after Revenge of the Sith, so the pain of losing Padme is still fresh. That lingering part of him that's still Anakin Skywalker would do whatever it takes to see his wife again, even going so far as to build a giant tuning fork castle to get the job done.

This also provides another reason for why Darth Vader felt the need to go back to Mustafar, the place where his old life essentially died. Previously in the Darth Vader comic book series, Vader went to the lava planet to bleed some kyber crystals (that he killed an Order 66 survivor for) red to power his new lightsaber. However this arc (and the series) wraps up, at least Vader comes out of this with some fancy digs.

The Infinity Stones Are Going To Emotionally Damage The MCU, According To The Avengers Writers

Needless to say, there will be spoilers in this article, so stop reading now if you want to go into Avengers: Infinity War knowing nothing.

For years, ever since the first Avengers team up movie, Marvel Studios has been teasing the pending arrival of Thanos (Josh Brolin). The "Big Bad" appeared in the end-credits scene of Avengers, proving to be the catalyst behind the Chitauri attack on New York City. And yet, for just as long, the MCU also has teased the existence of the Infinity Stones -- various powerful forces that, when harnessed together as part of the Infinity Gauntlet, would give any one person unlimited powers and resources. By the time we reach Avengers: Infinity War, the Stones are in different locations, and Thanos will be road-tripping through the galaxy to acquire them. But on the film's set, screenwriter Stephen McFeely explained that picking up each Stone will lead to serious consequences for the characters in the MCU, elaborating:

They're still spread out. Remember, one of our jobs -- we're big structure guys. So if you go back and look at Winter Soldier and Civil War particularly, they are -- whether you like the movies are not -- they're pretty well structured. Big choices have been made. We had to do the same thing here, and yet, we had six MacGuffins. It can be relentless, if you do this right.Which means, every time you collect [an Infinity Stone] -- I don't mean to get into the screenwriting weeds -- but every time you collect one, it can't just be a check mark. It has to do something 'characterful.' It's got to move the plot forward, but it also has to [have] stakes, and cost, for literal characters at the time, so that it's not just a shopping spree. And I think we've done that. And boy, we're going to wrench some emotion out of each and every one of those moments that we can.

We think we know what this means. But for real, if you made it this far and still have a bone to pick with spoilers, you have to STOP reading now, because we are going to get into some huge speculations based on things we have seen in the Avengers: Infinity War trailers.

There are two Infinity Stones that we see in Thanos' gauntlet in the trailers. The blue Space Stone (the Tesseract), and the purple Power Stone. Screenwriter Stephen McFeely says that he wants emotional weight to come with the acquiring of each Stone, and that likely means the death of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) when Thanos takes the Tesseract from him -- thereby giving Thor (Chris Hemsworth) some serious motivation to stop the Mad Titan.

Then there's the red Aether, the Reality Stone, which currently sits with The Collector (Benicio del Toro). We've heard rumors that a set used for Infinity War showed the Guardians walking through the ruins of The Collector's lair. Does Thanos decimate it, and possibly kill The Collector off? Also, the Nova Corp from the Guardians of the Galaxy films have the Power Stone, and I can imagine Thanos and his Black Order leaving them in shambles by the time he retrieves it.

Finally, we know that Vision (Paul Bettany) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) have two Stones, themselves. So how safe do we think they are, with Thanos on the hunt?

Disneys second live-action remake of the year has hit theaters, which means both critics and audiences have finally had the chance to journey back into the Cave of Wonders. Turns out, Aladdin is a diamond in the rough that has caused quite the divide between the two groups of moviegoers.

While a vast majority of fans left the theater with their wishes granted concerning the live-action Disney epic, critics felt something to be desired from Aladdin. The Rotten Tomatoes audience score is currently at a near perfect 93%, while the Tomatometer has deemed the film rotten at 57%. So while the remake didnt quite impress reviewers, its a big win for those who bought a ticket to go see the Middle East set musical.

Additionally, Aladdin passed with flying colors with its "A" CinemaScore, which measures movie appeal by asking movie theatergoers their opinions on opening night. While one might argue those who went out and saw it on the first night it was out were the most excited and invested group to see it, high anticipation can also place a more critical eye on movies too.

Many critics didnt hate Aladdin, they just couldnt help but compare it to the 1992 original and be disappointed. After Will Smiths Genie previously received flack for his new look, many actually praised Smith as a high point of the film, along with the new Aladdin and Jasmine played by Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott. Perhaps the biggest criticism is toward Guy Ritchie being at the helm and the notable limit to its creative energy as CinemaBlends own Eric Eisenberg pointed out in his 2.5 star review.

Audiences were much more forgiving of Aladdin recycling from its previous iteration, and the film did bring plenty of new aspects for them to judge. The movie has an entirely new cast of actors, the live-action flair, new musical numbers, and laugh-out-loud improv scenes. The original film is almost 30 years old and may have benefited from its updating - such as Princess Jasmines new empowering song from the songwriters of La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

When you compare the Rotten Tomatoes score of the first film, the audience score is comparable at 92%, while the Tomatometer is just as complementary at 94%. The difference here being when Aladdin came out it was something much more original. Robin Williams iconic performance wasnt a common occurrence in animation films and Disney was in the middle of a Renaissance that would also produce favorites including Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.

The new Aladdin is a bit more divisive between audiences and critics than 2017s Beauty and the Beast, even though both films recreated a beloved Disney musical with some similar methods. Beauty's Tomatometer score is 71% while its audience score is 80%. Perhaps critics have since grown tired of Disneys repeated live-action remake formula since then?
